Your
guide to acting as a distributor
In the past, there has been confusion in the market about
what property managers can and cannot do in assisting their
clients with insurance products and services. As our Distributor
we want to clear this confusion and also ensure you understand
your role so you are protected under the Australian financial
services licence (AFSL) of Aon Risk Services Australia Limited
(Aon) in your dealings with the Aon residential property insurance
products for your clients.
As our Distributor you are authorised to ‘deal’ in Aon Products.
When your client has decided to purchase an Aon Product, you
can:
- issue,
- vary,
- sell,
- acquire or
- apply for
any Aon Product. This is called ‘dealing’.
As our Distributor you must not provide advice on the Aon
Products.
Before or at the point of sale of the Aon Products, you must
provide your clients with the Important
Distributor Notice (printed on your letterhead).
This notice fulfils your obligation to tell your clients:
- you act as our Distributor in respect of the Aon Products;
- the remuneration (if any) you receive from us if they
accept Aon’s offer of insurance; and
- the availability of the Aon’s dispute resolution system
to the client.
Please read Aon
Distributor's Guide to Insurance as it will assist
you in better understanding your roles and responsibilities
as an Aon Distributor.
As a distributor of Aon your business can continue to earn
income on Aon Products including:
- landlords' insurance,
- home building insurance,
- home contents insurance, and
- residential strata insurance.
To become an Aon Distributor or for more information please
contact our Real Estate Agent Hotline on
1300 734 274 or contact
us.
